A watch bought for Rs.a is sold at a b% loss. what was the loss amount?

When the watch is sold for Rs. 500 there are a profit = (2/3) times this loss.

I.E. The difference between these two Sale prices = (1 + 2/3) = 5/3 times the loss

I.E. (500–400) =100 =(5/3) times the loss

I.E. the loss = (3x100)/5 - Rs. 60

SO the original cost price = Rs (400+60) = RS. 460
