Hey, I was solving a bunch of exercises on integrals and I came across this one? Do you think there is a typo in this exercise, because I cannot figure out what the two 2s are.

You should say you are generating the partial fraction representation. And it would appear you are correct, here is what Maxima says:

\(\displaystyle \frac{x^2+2x+3}{\left(x-1\right)\left(x+1\right)^2}=\frac{\frac{3}{2}}{x-1}-\frac{1}{\left(x+1\right)^2}-\frac{\frac{1}{2}}{x+1}\) I think that's right.

I can confirm it was \(\displaystyle \frac{(x^2+2x+3)}{(x-1)(x+1)^2}\), by solving that I found the correct result (for anyone who wants to try to solve this).

Ok, thank you. Will try to solve it this way.

It's a typo. my guess is that it should read \(\displaystyle {x^2} + 2x + 3\) on top I am also not sure whether the second term on the bottom should be squared.
